The story of Granos La Macarena began long before its formal founding. Don Avelino Fernández, a visionary entrepreneur of Spanish origin, actively participated in chickpea trading in northwestern Mexico, working closely with regional producers and contributing to the growth of an industry now recognized internationally.

In 1966, after years of experience and dedication to the sector, he founded Granos La Macarena in Navojoa, Sonora, laying the foundation for a company committed to quality, trust, and the development of Mexican chickpeas.

Over the decades, Granos La Macarena has consolidated its position as one of Mexico's most important chickpea export companies, preserving the values of work, honesty, and commitment that inspired its creation.

Today, the family's third generation continues his legacy, bringing Mexican chickpeas to more than 50 countries and supporting every operation with high standards of quality, food safety, and service.
